Okay, this is a stupid, irreverent view of what we've been reading and it's not even funny. But I made these up to convince Professor Rattner that I'm actually learning something - at least one major idea from every theorist.
So it was Munsterberg who started the whole craze
Of looking at films in more artistic ways
But if you think he had a theory
You'd really be silly
'Coz all he did was to call them photoplays.
Then there was this guy called Rudolf Arnheim
Who said it's not enough to change space-time
'Coz you've got to be aware
That the camera is there
Or the film hasn't been worth its dime.
Eisenstein was really, really keen
To read everything that the world has seen
Many terms he thus defined
But could not make up his mind
Is it an organism or is it a machine?
Please pardon me if this is too pointless to be on the blog, or off-topic, or offensive in any way. :-)

I'm impressed. We should have a live reading of these in class. And we should try to make a limerick about every one of our theorists. Im up for collaboration.
ReplyDeleteWell, that's a cool idea.. come up with a limerick for the next guy!
